Celebrating Connection: The 6th Annual Give a Bag, Get a Bag

This year marked a significant milestone as we hosted our 6th Annual Give a Bag, Get a Bag event. In light of the current climate, we chose to evolve our approach by bringing the event directly to our families’ doorsteps. Our priority was ensuring everyone felt safe, comfortable, and truly seen, transforming a traditional giveaway into a personal moment of connection within the community. During these visits, we were honored to provide essential support by coloring bags for Kids’ Meals, ensuring our youngest community members were cared for with dignity. It was a beautiful reminder that while the “where” might change, the spirit of support remains unshakable.
We owe the day’s incredible success to the hands and hearts that showed up for our neighbors. A profound thank you goes out to Amigas and Friends, Raices Unidas, and our tireless volunteers. Your dedication turned logistical challenges into a day of joy and impact for every family we visited. Together, we are proving that even in uncertain times, our community’s roots grow deeper and stronger.

This year we proudly celebrated the 10th Annual Art for the Cure—a decade of creativity, compassion, and impact. About Cris

Maria Cristina “Cris” Garza was a woman who is remembered for dedicating her life to helping others and sharing messages of Faith, Family, and Education. She devoted 35 years to the welfare and education of children as a teacher, counselor, personnel specialist, and parent liaison in several school districts across Texas. Cris also served on the board of directors for the Association of Advancement of Mexican Americans for many years. AAMA’s goal is to inspire and empower at-risk Latinos to pursue their potential and achieve success. Her strong faith and commitment never wavered even as she battled her 10-year fight against ovarian cancer. Even though she was the one fighting, her strength helped lift up those around her. Cris touched so many lives and inspired her children to carry on her vision of helping others. The Cristina Project’s goal is to help others help others. It is our mission to teach the youth the importance of volunteering and giving back to their communities.
